Since Nigel was young he has been interested in rolling ball sculptures, but he has moved up from a makeshift marble run in his bedroom to making fully welded versions in stainless steel!
The first welded Rolling Ball Sculpture he has made, developed in 2011, can be seen here. This is a grand design with eight tracks, and a motor driving three different lifts and some ingenious separating mechanisms.
Other controls within the machine are driven by the ball movement, and many different track features have been built in, creating a fantastic display that entrances both children and adults!
The machine was placed in a front window of Paints the Jewellers shop in St Peter Port for several weeks earlier this year, drawing streams of onlookers.
